| We are working with Icarus Falconry in Northamptonshire, to bring you this amazing photographic experience day. Since 2002 Icarus has been building up the centre, which is now home to a unique collection of birds of prey ranging from the Black Eagle to the tiny Burrowing Owl. The collection also includes a wide variety of Hawks, Falcons and Owls. With new additions to the collection this year including an Asian Wood Owl, a Tawny Eagle and a Vulture named Bentley. We will be located within the grounds of the prestigious Holdenby House Estate, that will give us stunning backgrounds and locations for the day Icarus Falconry is only open by appointment, so we will have very personal attention. They have many years of experience and can offer us an unrivaled day. We will be afforded close up access to the birds, as well has having private flighting sessions, morning and afternoon. The Falconer will set up flights paths for us, enabling us to capture the beauty of the birds in flight. We will have a number of flying sessions and a number of locations The day will start at 9.30am. There will be a short health and safety briefing, which is an essential part of the day due to the access we will enjoy. This is then followed by a short lecture, giving hints and tips on getting the most out of the day from a photographic perspective. We will normally work in groups of up to 10 and will be attended by 2 qualified professional photographic tutors and a experienced Falconer. This day brings you in close contact with the most powerful, swift and agile members of the raptor family. The fierce falcons whose deadly pursuit of quarry is performed at high altitude and at high speed, the eagles that soar on thermals scanning for prey, then stoop like missiles from the sky in pursuit of ground game, the hawks that relentlessly pursue their quarry across open ground and into dense cover till the end. Hot and cold drinks are available during the day. There are no cafe facilities and you will need to bring a packed lunch.
As you can imagine, the cost of running this facility is very high, but the conservation and rescue work is vital for the survival of these birds. By attending our workshop you will not only have a fabulous day with unique opportunities to photograph and get close to these magnificent animals, but you will also be helping to support the good work of the Icarus Falconry Centre.
