How to get the best from your Masterclass Here are some things you can do to help prepare yourself for the best experiences possible during your Masterclass. 1. If you have equipment you are not familiar with please bring along the instruction book. Your tutors cannot be expected to know how to operate every piece of equipment ever made. In particular, digital cameras can display a huge variation in how the various functions are accessed from one model and manufacturer to another. 2. DigitalMasterclass operates an open learning environment, you may learn as much from other students as you do from the tutors. This is normal, and is an important part of the Masterclass experience. 3. Be open to suggestions and constructive criticism. The tutors may see some problems with your technique, approach, etc. that you have failed to identify. The purpose in attending a Masterclass is to expose yourself to new ideas and techniques. 4. Be honest with yourself and the tutors about the amount of experience you have both with your equipment and your photographic knowledge. To overstate or understate your case does all of you a disservice. 5. Landscape photography is very much about being there at the right time and that may not coincide with the timing of the workshop. When you shoot outdoors you are totally dependent on the weather and when you only have a long weekend the weather may not always be the best to get that 'great' photo. After saying this, the vast majority of our students do complete our workshops with images they can be proud of. In fact, several students have had images published in photographic magazines that were taken during a Masterclass and during periods of adverse weather. 6. We would strongly advise you read through the Q&A section for addition hints and tips. 7. If, in six months you are still thinking about what was said and what you learned, and if you are still feeling stimulated by the experience, then it was a good workshop for you. 8. Do consider the OCN accreditation as this will help to cement your learning. |
