photography courses

Debbie Collins Student Gallery and Profile

My thoughts on my courses

I wanted to start again at the beginning. So, I completed the foundation courses and was really glad I did. I learnt so much that I would have missed otherwise. I am now enjoying the advanced courses. I think that the course subjects/level and tutor support in particular is excellent. I am a mature student who lives and travels abroad. The courses are designed in a way that enables me to complete my studies from almost anywhere.

My skill level prior to starting the course

I was taking pictures on my travels for many years and having fun with it. But, I had never studied photography as a skill.

My skill level now

Yes I am gaining skills, but I believe you never stop learning photography. The skills from these courses have enabled me to improve the professional quality of my photography many times over! I am part way through an Advanced course and will continue with different specialisms.

Personal Statement

Having access to experienced professional photographers as tutors was key to my decision to enroll with the college. This is what really differentiated DMC from the rest.

My long term plans

I am lucky to be full time on photography at the moment. I want to continue photographing 'culture and character' as a key objective and I am expanding into abstract and digital art. Competition is tough out here so I am prioritising my marketing/stock gallery efforts at the moment and want to extend the product range. I think you have to really understand your customers needs and be flexible with changes in trends and needs. In the meantime I run 4/5 e-exhibitions a year and they attract visitors to the site.So they will continue.
