Bluebell course first (birthday pressie from wifey) - just the right level, enough stretch in the content for me to take my new SLR off auto. Big Cats - my moment of marvel - took an image of a tiger's eye, which I believe is the best photo I have ever taken. Fabulous day - memorable and very, very worthwhile. Off to Iceland in October and can't wait!! Northern Lights - here I come...

As a very interested amateur, I had developed what I would describe as competent, self-taught, dabbling skills! Trying this and that, fiddling with it in Photoshop and ending up with photos that I liked and others thought were very good (even the wife!).
Thinking a lot more than I used to when composing a shot, and far more consistently being able to achieve in photo what I am imagining in my head! Can see the shot, create the shot in my head and then go ahead and capture it (not always first time, but within a couple of tries). Feeling far more confident and far less frustrated by my skill level.
Pleased to see that my wife has also started digital masterclass classes - distance learning of foundation course. Great to talk digi photo together and compare what we are doing and thinking about a scene or shot. Thoroughly recommend the courses and support from Brian and Paul - they have been a gem of a find and helped me move my hobby on to the next level and beyond. Thanks guys!
Keep learning by trying and doing new and different photographic activities. Possibly take some accredited courses. Build up my own photo portfolio.
